A little R&R is always a good thing!

With all that we have done in the last several weeks, I still managed to squeeze in a few days of R&R with my quilting friend, Pam from Texas! She wanted to see me before the big move and the holidays are quickly approaching (ahem…now get this…there are only 66 days until Christmas! Ack!!!) so we pretty well knew it was now or the planets and stars may not line up again for us to pull a girls’ trip. Earlier this month, we looked at the calendar and, with a permanent marker for luck, we set the date for this week. She drove up and we met in Yukon, OK for stitching, laughing and catching up!

We sat up our sewing tables and machines, after moving a bit of furniture, and kicked it in high gear. One and a half days of sewing is not very long so we make the most of it and make those sewing machines hum!

My goal was to finish a bed runner, which had been pushed to the back-burner for way too long. Boarders were next to do then piece the back. CHECK! DONE!

My second project was started at the retreat I mentioned here, with Pam’s help at power-sewing, so with daylight (and wine) left, pressing those into shape was next on the list.

I got the 4-patches put together…

More pressing…and wine…

And then on to sewing those to the matching solid piece…with some snacks for sustenance…wine & cheese in the fridge!

More pressing… and they are ready for the design wall at home! CHECK!

Even Pam got a good bit accomplished…even with my interruptions for figuring the math. (She is my friend for a very good reason…she is VERY good at the math involved in quilting!!)

Today was time to check out of the hotel…and, you guessed it…check out a new quilt shop!! Pam found this one via Facebook so off we went. Threads of Tradition has only been open about one year but worth a stop! We arrived just as the shop opened and we were greeted by Rockie and two other ladies ready for a sit-n-sew morning. The shop is owned by Brenda & Doug Smith and Ann & Roy Maddox. Their website is nearly ready so check it out in the coming weeks!

Oh…and this past weekend was another huge step towards Hawaii! We traded the oldest Yukon for this beauty! We’ll be driving it to California to put on a ship bound for Kauai after the holidays! 2015 Toyota Highlander! Another big box CHECKED! DONE!

Next on the list…find a place to rent on Kauai! Mr. G has sent off the wish-list to a Realtor there and now we wait…fingers crossed we hear back soon!

Have a great week! Thanks for stopping by!
