Time to Celebrate!

Happy Thursday to you all! Thanks for checking in on the latest!

Since my last post we are now officially home owners on Kauai! From start to finish, 10+ weeks is all it took to make this dream a reality!

Home Sweet Home!

We also received the permit for our golden girl, Ruby to enter Hawaii! Sorry this is a little blurry, but I was so excited to open the envelope my hands were shaking!

The official paperwork for Ruby is finally here!

The final piece to our closing will happen tomorrow when the property is treated for termites. These little beasts are very common in Hawaii (as in many parts of the planet!) and they were in the process of eating the garage door I mentioned in this post! The recommendation was fumigation since drywood termites are the specific invaders and that is the best way to get to them inside the wood of any structure. I found this information on termites during a Google search and it was very informative and the pictures are pretty amazing!

My parents are in town today from Albuquerque so we are having a family dinner tonight with our family. It will be the last time we are all together for a while. Our son-in-love now has his official papers for his assignment to Japan and will be leaving sometime in May. Our daughter will follow him in late June after she graduates from college and completes her Board exams for Dental Assistant.

We will also be celebrating the exciting news that our son and daughter-in-love are expecting another baby boy in late August!

The next few days will be a whirlwind of sorting, selecting and packing! Mr. G is finishing up with tax season 2015 and then he has his own lengthy checklist to get busy working on to get his CPA and Real Estate licenses transferred. Direct debits and deposits have to be reassigned to our new bank account and, of course, change of address notices will start as well.

But for a day or so, we can sit back and take a deep breath of relief that (hopefully!) the hardest tasks are behind us! Now, we just wait some more…20 days and counting…until we head West!

It’s definitely time to celebrate!! Wine anyone?!
